Downtown Sunnyvale can be a bit unassuming, but this Friday the block will be on fire. Starting at 10pm, LA-based (and world-renowned) DJ Slushii will be spinning some of his hottest mixes well into the early morning—neon-decked, club-packing dubsteppers like “Dear Me,” Rocket League theme song “All I Need,” and the twinkling Marshmello collab “Twinbow.” The 24-year-old DJ has been on the scene since 2016, and quickly rose in the EDM world due to his sparkling, sugary mixes and high profile collaborations. The club requires all guests wear masks indoors, but bottle service is available for those who want to keep social distance from the dancefloor.

A household name on the global dubstep circuit, American DJ and producer Slushii is known for combining cheery vocal hooks, pulsating synths, rapid-fire trap beats and powerful bass drops into a sugary electronic slurry. The Los Angeles-based Mad Decent affiliate has kept quite busy since dropping his debut EP, Brain Freeze, in 2016. He has two additional EPs and is about to release his third LP, Dream II, later this week. Back in April, he headlined the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, so catching him in the intimate Pure Nightclub should be a sweet treat for fans.

Julian Scanian’s neon pink and blue alter ego Slushii merges twinkly polysynth leads with party-rocking bass lines and recalls the work of contemporaries like Marshmello, Mura Masa and Louis the Child. However, unlike some arena-rattling dance music stars who reach out to guest vocalists to amp up their arrangements, Slushii lends his own voice to his work—singing wistfully over sweet, danceable ditties and fist-pumping bangers. The New Jersey native came up fast after his SoundCloud profile caught fire and then caught the attention of EDM power players like Diplo and Skrillex. He is currently touring behind his debut studio album, Out Of Light.
