Beginning this Wednesday, the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles’ new exhibit features striking tapestry works that clearly showcase the detrimental effects of climate change across the planet. Curated by renowned local artists Deborah Corsini and Alex Friedman, the work stitches together weavers from across the West Coast—all members of Tapestry Weavers West—and features more than 25 artists speaking to one of the most important issues facing us today.

The museums are also celebrating a new neighbor, as community gardeners Veggielution set up shop on South First, giving the whole event a garden theme. Those looking to get their hands in mother earth or their eyes on some of the community’s visual marvels, shouldn’t miss it.
Her bright, circus-themed pieces will give viewers a new outlook on this once-popular family pastime. With dark humor and an unexpected, edgy style, Without a Net will be displayed through April 15. The museum holds its open house event three to four times a year, showcasing both the makers and traditions from countries around the world. The event is open to all ages and includes crafting, a performance by the Cambodian Cultural Dance Troupe and other activities. (JR)
