Like most fests last year, Post Street’s Jubilee Wellness Festival was sidelined due to the pandemic. However, the Jubilee’s similarity to most festivals ends there. The free, outdoor event in San Jose’s recently defined Qmunity District (aka Post Street) dedicates itself to health and wellness in the South Bay’s LGBTQ+ community, providing free dental exams, rapid STI testing, on-site COVID vaccinations and many more services—alongside musicians, dancers, DJs, performers and games. There will be drag, there will be drinks, good times will be had and—before anyone asks—yes, the Moby Dick ride is back.

LGBTQ+ community, assemble! This weekend, the South Bay is hosting the Silicon Valley Pride Parade and Festival for residents near and far to come celebrate. This year’s theme: “Standing for love and Liberation.” The weekend will kick off with a night festival on Saturday, including two stages for DJ’s and live performances, with Sunday including a parade along Market Street, dancers, artists and live bands. The festival will include fun for the youngsters with the family-friendly Family Garden, and adults with the cocktail lounge and live visual art exhibits.

Called an “underground power generator” by SF Chronicle, the San Francisco Neo-Futurists are a troupe of writer/actor/directors committed to moving stage production boldly forward. Each year for Pride, the troupe presents their World Pride Wrench, a dazzling array of short productions that explore the LGBTQI+ experience from numerous decidedly current perspectives. Available online this year, the 2021 World Pride Wrench features 30 shorts that promise to (briefly) examine sexuality, identity and community, all in the span of ninety minutes. Half of all proceeds go to the Trangender Law Center.
