Hearty laughs and good beer—what else do we really need? This Tuesday, local comics Ruben Escobedo III and BMo bring their monthly game show “Pick Your Poison” to Clandestine Brewing. The 90-minute show will have five TBA comics perform two sets each, with the first being completely improvised and the second being their regular material. All the more chance to dive into some of Clandestine’s most aptly named brews, from Hindsight is 2020 to Don’t Panic (a good reminder for the comics).

Your knowledge of random fun facts probably increases with the libations you indulge in, right? Looks like Sporcle, the trivia-quiz website, has an answer to this with Sporcle Live, their in-person pub trivia experience that’s made its way to San Jose’s Clandestine Brewing. Hosted by an MC, participants form groups and pit their trivia knowledge against each other while placing non-monetary bets on their answers. This added twist tests how much faith you really have in your own knowledge of minutiae. The winners of the two one-hour sessions walk away with prizes—and bragging rights.

The Night King may be descending on Westeros, but in San Jose winter is finally over, and Clandestine Brewing is celebrating the fairer weather at this springtime shindig. There won’t be a Maypole, but there will be a sunny patio and number of traditional German beers, including a range of bocks, on tap. Sample the lighter maibock style (Bignose MyBock) and the darker doppelbock variety (Agent Provacator) while toasting to longer days and warmer nights. The event is free, but $25 gets you a Clandestine stein along with two pours of your choice.Bock Party

Downtown San Jose’s Clandestine Brewing has been tapping kegs and pouring up frosty glasses of locally crafted brew for a full year now. To celebrate, they are inviting beer lovers from all over Silicon Valley to pull up a stool or, if the weather allows, enjoy their spacious patio—with a beer in hand, of course. San Jose’s Artisan Candies will be there serving meat pies, vegetarian pasties and other goodies. But the star of the day will be Clandestine’s brew. They’ve spun up a chocolate barleywine called “CocoaBW” and a Scotch ale with the irresistible name of “Lucifer’s Casket” specifically for the occasion.
