British playwright Alan Bennett has given the world a number of great stage productions, including The History Boys and The Madness of King George. His latest work, Allelujah!, focuses on a decades-old hospital known as “The Beth,” as it deals with closure and the fate of its geriatric patients. This celebrated musical comedy was captured live on film at London’s Bridge Theatre. This filmed version of the play that comes to the Hammer as part of its National Theatre Live series.
